Kiss in the sunset - Dunes Golf and Beach Club

Summer wedding at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club – Myrtle Beach

It’s finally beginning to slow down around the Myrtle Beach area with many of the schools back in session after the summer break. With family photo sessions many evenings and multiple weddings on some weekends, I haven’t had time to post to my blog in a while. While I’m working hard now on getting caught up with everyone’s pictures from the past few weeks, I thought I would quickly highlight this fun wedding from a few weeks ago at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach. Wing Wong of Salon & Spa 18 did the hair and makeup. …

Kiss in the sunset in front of the clubhouse - Pawleys Plantation

Spring wedding at Pawleys Plantation with a fun band and great sunset

I recently photographed another great wedding at Pawleys Plantation in Pawleys Island. As I’ve mentioned before, this is one of my favorite locations and I usually photograph a number of weddings here each year. The staff always does a great job with the organization, decorations, and catering, and things always go very smoothly. We had great weather for the wedding ceremony on the lawn behind the golf club. The only problem was the strong sun on the bride’s face during the ceremony. Thankfully, the groom was tall enough to give her some shade. I always like to shoot a couple …

Brides veil blowing in the wind - Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club

Fun wedding at Pawleys Plantation with a large bridal party, great band and lots of dancing!

This was the last of my three consecutive weddings in two weekends at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club. This was a really big wedding with a large bridal party, a reception in the main ballroom and a great live band. I sent my assistant over to take pictures with the groom and groomsmen as they got ready at Pawleys Plantation. I went over to Litchfield Plantation where the bride was getting ready. This was the same location where I did engagement pictures with the couple previously. Litchfield Plantation has a beautiful entrance roadway that is covered by old oak …

Summer wedding at the Pine Lakes Country Club in Myrtle Beach

It’s been a while since I’ve photographed a wedding at the Pine Lakes Country Club in Myrtle Beach, so it was very nice to be back. Alexandra and Derek, the bride and groom, are both school teachers. A lot of the wedding decorations and details featured books and related items. I especially liked the classic typewriter they had on the entrance table with a poem typed out on the paper. I used the poem and books for some cool macro shots of the rings. The seating assignment cards for the guests were made to look like a library card catalog …

First look behind the clubhouse before the ceremony - Pawleys Plantation

Beautiful spring wedding at Pawleys Plantation Country Club with a first look and great sunset

This wedding was a great way to begin my 2016 season. I always love going to the Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club area to photograph a wedding. I’ve been there so many times that I know the best photo spots and where to get good light during different times of the afternoon. This bride and groom decided to do a “first look” so that we could do all the bridal party and family pictures before the ceremony. Doing most of the pictures before the ceremony can be nice, but you need a location like Pawleys Plantation with lots of …

Bridal party opening a champagne bottle together on the beach

Outdoor wedding at the Barefoot Resort Dye Club with a wild cake cutting and sparkler exit

It’s been several years since I’ve photographed a wedding at the Dye Club in Barefoot Resort. I’m glad to be back there for a wedding. It’s a beautiful area. The Dye Club has a traditionally elegant dining room with enough tables for a large group. I lit some of the candles to get lovely details shots earlier in the day while no one was inside. There is also a large dance floor area and a separate area with the bar where the buffet line was set up. Below I put a picture of the dress hanging from a chandelier. That hallway …

Beautiful sunset portrait of bride and groom on the Wacammaw River

Beautiful afternoon wedding at Wachesaw Plantation with a horse drawn carriage

I always love going to Wachesaw Plantation for a wedding. The oak trees on the Waccamaw River make an excellent backdrop for pictures, especially at sunset. It’s been a long time since I’ve photographed a wedding with a horse and carriage, and it always makes for some great pictures. I guess riding in on a carriage is the type of thing you have to be at a plantation or garden-style location like Wachesaw for it to work. I got the business card of the carriage company, so I’ll add it to my favorite vendors page. Maybe it will give some brides an idea …

Heritage Plantation wedding photography at the Clubhouse and the new Nikon D810

A few weeks ago, I photographed another beautiful wedding at the Heritage Plantation clubhouse in Pawleys Island, SC.  It’s been a few years since I’ve been there, it’s a great location, so hopefully, I can get on their vendor list and get some more weddings at the club. The Clemson Tiger mascot came in as a surprise to the groom at the reception. Whoever wore the outfit was fun and livened up the evening. They also had a live band which did a great job. The groom had a twin brother as his best man. I had some trouble trying …

Bride and groom sitting together of golf course greens

Early afternoon wedding photography at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club with a fun couple

Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club is one of my favorite locations where I photograph weddings often. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the site is excellent for photography. There isn’t much I can say that I haven’t said in some of my earlier blog posts about the area. This wedding ceremony was in the early afternoon, so we had some harsh sunlight during the ceremony, but it wasn’t too bad. The golf course behind the clubhouse is a great place for a wedding and pictures after. It is nice to do everything in the same area instead of traveling …

First dance at Wachesaw Plantation

Beautiful Afternoon wedding at Wachesaw Plantation

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Wachesaw Plantation for a wedding. It’s a beautiful wedding site on the Waccamaw River, especially lovely at sunset as the light filters through the many trees. The bride and groom at this wedding wanted to do a first look so they could get most of the wedding pictures done before the ceremony. That is an excellent way to do things because the couple can start having fun after the ceremony. This also means that most of the pictures would be done earlier in the day when the sunlight is much harsher. Thankfully at Wachesaw, …
