Ryan Smith Photography’s portrait prices and information
Including Sunset Family Beach Portraits | Maternity Portraits | High School Senior Portraits & More
I specialize in fun, candid and creative family beach photography in the Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand area. My beach photography sessions are relaxed and fun, I’m glad to try any ideas and family groupings you desire. I personally do a small number of appointments each week, typically around sunset time. I also do everything myself from the photography to the adjustments and touch-ups of the pictures. Not only am I a native to Myrtle Beach area, but I’ve been doing family photography in Myrtle Beach for over a decade now! Anyone can put a few good pictures in a gallery, but it takes a lot of experience to consistently get happy smiles and great looking pictures on the beach.
My style as Myrtle Beach family photographer
What I do is different from a typical in the studio portrait photographer. While I do suggest traditional poses and family groupings, I take around 200-300 shots in an hour or so session trying to capture the best moments and natural expressions. Sometimes my favorite shots are those that don’t look posed but instead look like a family just enjoying the beach together. I don’t view myself as some type of special artist, instead I’m focused on keeping the families happy and being patient no matter what happens.
We can do whatever type of family groupings you like. I usually do full group pictures, couples, families, grandparents with grandkids, groups of kids, individual portraits and anything else you like. I also do everything in multiple locations so we have plenty of opportunities to get some great shots. I’ve had many clients tell me it was the nicest experience they have had with a photographer. I hope I can make you feel the same way.
Quality of finished pictures
I prefer clear, crisp and clean color and black and white images that can only be done with the best lenses and an expert understanding of lighting and flash. I’m using the same equipment I use at weddings like very expensive prime lenses and powerful off camera studio strobe lighting. This gives a different look than you get from ordinary “natural light only” family beach pictures. It’s like a combination of an in studio portrait balanced with the beautiful natural light from the sun. A reasonable amount of artistic and general touch-up Photoshop work on prints is also included at no charge.
Myrtle Beach Sunset Family Photography Session Prices
Nov – March | $350
April – Oct | $450
Note: For available dates in Sep-Nov, I’m requesting the Full Resolution upgrade below to be added to the package up front. Many people choose this anyway but it’s easier that way. So the total will include the $150 additional charge below.
There are no sitting fees or hidden charges. The package includes the photo session with no set limit on pictures, I typically take 200-300 pictures in about an hour or so session. This includes a download of the standard resolution digital files from the session (with copyright release), perfect for social sharing and small prints ( See Q&A page for details ). These are not “straight from the camera” I personally adjust each picture for color, lighting and artistic quality. Prints can also be (optionally) ordered through your online client gallery at very reasonable prices. If we do the pictures at one of my preferred State Park locations, I also have passes for 2 cars to get in at no charge.
If you have more than 10 people in your group, it’s an extra $50 per 5 people (maximum $150 additional fee for very large groups, for example over 25 people). Keep in mind everyone in the group can download the pictures and we can take lots of photos with each individual family unit in the group. SC requires sales tax of 8% added if you are a resident of SC.
To book your session I request a $100 deposit, deducted from your total, that can be paid by CashApp, Venmo, Check or Credit Card. Please see Q&A section for details.
Note: If you are very concerned about the look of your hair, I would highly recommend the Huntington Beach State Park where there is the beach, but also a castle and trees area that is more sheltered. Or an off the beach location like the Conway River Walk or Caledonia Golf Club. The beach can be very windy.
Full Resolution & Prints Upgrade | $150
Upgrade to the full resolution digital files suitable for making your own prints of any size, plus a bonus $75 credit to order prints through my online store. Note: This upgrade only matters for your download of the pictures, prints ordered through my store are always printed from the full resolution even without this upgrade. This recommended upgrade can be added up front or up to 3 years after the session. ( See Q&A page for details )
