Beautiful riverfront wedding at the Kimbels in Wachesaw Plantation

It’s great to finish out the 2020 season with some amazing weddings. Even though the weddings have been a little smaller this year because of Covid, I’ve still had some of my favorites ever. The Kimbels restaurant in Wachesaw Plantation is one of the most beautiful locations in the Myrtle Beach area. Especially if you are looking for trees and moss instead of the beach. The Kimbels ceremony location, overlooking the Waccamaw River, is a beautiful spot for portraits at sunset. There is also a picturesque oak allee surrounded by large moss covered live oak trees on either side. When …

Sunset ceremony facing the clubhouse at Pine Lakes Country Club

Intimate Beach House wedding Shannon and Lawrence had a lot of changes to their wedding schedule this year because of Covid-19. I first did bridal portraits for Shannon at Pine Lakes Country Club, back in February, before we had any idea how difficult things would get. You can check them out on my blog here. Their wedding at Pine Lakes was supposed to take place back in April, of course this is when all the Covid social distancing restrictions were at their strictest. They decided to go ahead and get married with a very private beach house ceremony. I actually …

Wedding at 21 Main Events at North Beach with puppies in place of bouquets!

I met Jenna and Justin at last January’s Wedding Showcase event in Myrtle Beach. We briefly discussed their upcoming wedding on October 2nd, taking place in the courtyard at the 21 Main Events at North Beach wedding venue. January was such a short time ago, however a lot of things have changed since then. I will be at the Wedding Showcase again next year, I’m sure things will be a little bit different with social distancing and masks, but I hope lots of people come and have a good time. The bride loved some of my previous pictures from 21 …

Summer wedding at the Magnolia Plantation Carriage House in Charleston

It been a few years since I had a wedding at the Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, SC. It was great to be back for the wedding of Taylor and James on September 12, 2020. The Carriage House is a beautiful venue surrounded by live oak trees on the Ashley River. The ceremony area is setup on a huge lawn facing the Ashley River and in front of a huge old oak tree covered in moss. It’s also a short walk to the main gardens area, with lots of fantastic locations for photos. When I arrived, I met …

Rainy wedding day at Litchfield Country Club with a beautiful sunset

During the summertime in Myrtle Beach we have very frequent afternoon thunderstorms. The day can look like it’s going to be great, then suddenly we will get a downpour. We also have the opposite happen, where the weather forecast shows rain all day, then at sunset the sky will clear up and it will be beautiful. When I have a client scheduled for sunset pictures, I always tell them to not get discouraged and just wait as long as possible before cancelling. Of course, at a wedding, we have to make the best of things rain or shine. For this …

Rainy summer wedding day at the Atalaya Castle in Huntington Beach State Park

It’s great to be getting back into wedding season in the Myrtle Beach area. I was a little worried, earlier this year, that work would be very slow. This summer has actually been very busy with family beach pictures and even a few small weddings. It seems like most of my weddings, for the rest of the year, are going to take place with just some social distancing modifications. Some have had to reduce the number of guests and some have moved the receptions outside to comply with venue requirements. So far, all my weddings have taken place without any …

Small summer wedding at the Holiday Cottage in Brookgreen Gardens

I always love going to the Holiday Cottage at Brookgreen Gardens for weddings. The gates, leading to the “Youth Taming the Wild” statue, is such a beautiful location for a wedding ceremony. This Monday afternoon wedding was planned from the beginning to be a small event, with only family and close friends in attendance. This was a second wedding for both the bride and groom so they wanted to keep things simple. They even planned to have the small reception back at thier home in Pawleys Island. All of these original plans worked out perfectly with the current social distancing …

Beautiful spring wedding at Hidden Acres in Marion, SC

This has been a very difficult year for brides and thier wedding plans with Covid-19 and the social distancing restrictions. Almost all of my May weddings had to reschedule for later in the year. Thankfully, for Heather and Ethan’s wedding on May 30th, many wedding venues around SC, including Hidden Acres, were beginning to open back up. In fact, by the time I’m making this blog post near the end of June, I’ve had one of the busiest summers I can remember. Heather had chosen my all-day wedding package with no hour restrictions, so my wife Lizeth and I arrived …

Small social distancing wedding at the Wildhorse at Parker Farms

Jennifer and Matt were planning on having over 100 guests and a large wedding party for thier spring wedding at the Wildhorse at Parker Farms wedding venue. We were all told at first that the COVID-19 coronavirus wasn’t going to be a big deal in the US, but as the March 21st wedding date approached, things kept looking worse. A few weeks before, they told me the wedding was still on, but the guest list was going to be much smaller. Soon after that, all the groomsmen except for the best man, had to drop out because of flight and …

Jess and Adam’s springtime ceremony on the patio by the palm trees and pool at the Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach

We had a hot and windy day at the Grande Dunes Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach for this May wedding. I started out getting some great shots with Wing Wong of Salon and Spa 18 doing the bride’s hair. I also got to work with Luminous Event Films for the first time, he was great to work with as well. It’s always nice when the photographer and videographer can get along really well. Broadway Jake was the DJ, Croissants Bistro and Bakery made the cake, and Flowers in the Forest did the beautiful bouquets and flowers. I have all these …
