Dipping bride back for a kiss in front of the ocean

Busy weekend with weddings at the Grande Dunes Ocean Club

I often go to the Grande Dunes Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach for wedding photography. It is my most visited location. The weekend of this wedding, I had three other weddings at the Ocean Club and one the following week. The nice thing is I know all the staff and all the good picture spots, as I mentioned in one of my earlier blog posts. During this ceremony, I also set up a camera on the upstairs balcony to shoot pictures during the entire ceremony. This time I set the camera to take a shot every 5 seconds instead of every 10 seconds …

Bride and father walking towards ceremony on the Ocean Club terrace

Wedding on the Terrace at the Grande Dunes Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach

The Ocean Club at the Grande Dunes is one of my most frequented wedding locations. I appreciate that they have me on their vendor list because I often have clients contact me after seeing the list. The Grande Dunes preferred vendor list is a pretty good one. They seem to list some of the outstanding photographers and vendors in the area. I heard years ago they made vendors pay to be included on this list, but it hasn’t been that way in a long time. You can never trust a paid vendor list, so I’m glad they don’t do that anymore. I’ve …

First kiss - Members Club at Grande Dunes

Sunset wedding on the veranda at the Members Club at Grande Dunes

I always love going to the Grande Dunes Members Club for weddings. It’s a beautiful clubhouse located on the golf course inside the Grande Dunes. This bride wore a stunning lace-covered ball gown. This is a perfect dress for getting pictures of the bride standing in a doorway with the full dress flowing out behind her. Working with some of my favorite wedding vendors, including Sara from Stunning and Brilliant Events and DJ Scott and Company, was also great. I began the day by taking pictures of the bride’s wedding dress and other details. I always love photos of the …

Portrait of bride and groom kissing behind the sea grass at the Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach

Another fun couple getting married at the Grande Dunes Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach

I’ve been going to the Ocean Club for weddings a lot this year, not that I’m complaining. It’s a beautiful location. The club is located at the north end of Myrtle Beach, so there is a small area with dunes and sea oats with no hotels in the background.  This was a small ceremony down on the beach. I always like smaller ceremonies because they are usually more relaxed and flexible on time. I also prefer when they have the ceremony on the beach instead of the Ocean Club veranda. The veranda can get pretty tight to move around and …

Cutting wedding cake with military saber

Military groom at the Grande Dunes Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach

I had another lovely wedding at the Grande Dunes Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach. This is one of the locations I seem to photograph weddings at frequently. I think it helps that I’m on the Grande Dunes’ preferred vendor list. The light is always pretty in the room where the bride is getting ready, and the bridal party was a fun group that was up to doing some silly pictures. The only more difficult thing about the wedding was it was pretty early in the day, and the sun was really strong on the terrace.  If possible, I would recommend …

HDR of a wedding ceremony on the compass pad at the Marina Inn - Grande Dunes

Wedding of mother with four fun kids at the Marina Inn with reception at Joe’s Crab Shack

This was a fun recent wedding at the Grande Dunes Marina Inn, with a reception at Joe’s Crab Shack at Broadway at the Beach. I didn’t ask, but I would imagine this was a second wedding for both the bride and groom. Those are always fun because when it’s the second time, it’s usually more about just having fun with the family.  Especially when they have great kids with good personalities.  Instead of my most important pictures being about the couple, it’s usually more about the family and having fun with the kids. I’ve never been to Joe’s Crab Shack …

Highlights from the last few weeks and the importance of a good DJ

I haven’t made a wedding-specific blog post recently, and I’ve wanted to put up something new. I always get so busy in the summer. So I just decided to quickly pull out of my collection a few shots I liked from the last few weeks of August. These come from family beach pictures at the Myrtle Beach State Park, the mother of a bride I had last year getting married at the Grande Dunes Member’s Club, a wedding for a military groom at Brunswick Plantation in NC, and a wedding reception in Florence, SC. There is a lot in this one …

Another wedding at the Grande Dunes Ocean Club – Myrtle Beach

I like going back to a location multiple times. It’s just so much more relaxed going to an area I already know.  This was my second wedding in the actual Ocean Club, which is at the very north end of Myrtle Beach. I’ve had a number of weddings in the Grande Dunes that had their ceremony on the beach behind the club as well.  I don’t know how the pricing compares, but overall the Grande Dunes really is about the nicest place for a wedding and reception I’ve seen.  This week everything went super smoothly.  The videographers, AAA Photography, were …

Traditional Indian bride sitting on floor looking up - Grande Dunes Members Club

Traditional Indian Wedding at the Grande Dunes Myrtle Beach

I did my first traditional Indian wedding at the Grande Dunes Members Club in Myrtle Beach.  It was an experience I’ll always remember and a really beautiful event. It’s amazing how intricate and heavy an Indian wedding dress is.  I loved how many colors there were during the ceremony with the bride’s dress and the flowers. I think my favorite shot was the bride walking down the aisle and the groom still hidden from her view. My new Nikon 70-200 f2.8 lens really makes this picture pop. I also loved the picture of the bride from overhead, where you can see all the details …
