The Ocean Club at the Grande Dunes is one of my most frequented wedding locations. I really appreciate that they have me on their vendor list because I often have clients contact me from seeing the list. Actually the Grande Dunes preferred vendor list is a pretty good one, they seem to list some of the really good photographers and vendors in the area. I heard years ago they made vendors pay to be included on this list, but it hasn’t been that way in a long time. You can never trust a paid vendor list so I’m glad they don’t do that anymore. I’ve been working on the vendor list on my website as well, I’m trying to get together a complete list of people I’ve worked with that I really like. In fact I’ve gotten a few business cards from vendors recently I’ll get added to the list soon. So keep an eye on my vendor page for some good recommendations.
The wedding I’m highlighting this time was up on the Terrace at the Ocean Club. It was late enough in the afternoon that the sun had fallen behind the club so it made for some nice shade on the Terrace. I did something kind of cool this time, I left a camera up on the balcony at the brides dressing room to shoot pictures of the ceremony. I just left an intervalometer on my older Nikon D3 with a wide-angle lens set to shoot a picture every 10 seconds. I just thought it might work out for getting a few overhead pictures during the ceremony. I’ve always been into time-lapse photography so I have some expensive software for combining many pictures into a video. So I decided to put together all the pictures into a quick video and I thought it turned out fun. I also have some equipment called a time-lapse dolly by Dynamic Perception for very slowly moving a camera during a time-lapse shoot, of course I don’t have time for playing around with that at a wedding, so for this time-lapse the camera was just in a static position. I’ll embed it at the bottom of the pictures below.
I thought everything at this wedding turned out very nice. I was able to take the pictures of the couple pretty close to sunset so even the timing of things worked out well. I’ve already done a couple more weddings at the Ocean Club since this wedding, if I have time I’ll posts some of those pictures later on as well. Please let me know in the comments below if you enjoy the pictures.
