Portrait in front of the marsh - Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club

Bridal portraits on the golf course at Pawleys Plantation

I recently photographed the wedding of April and Zach at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club. They were such a happy and fun couple. You can check out a sneak peek of their wedding on my Facebook page. She had a beautiful canvas print of one of these bridal portraits at the wedding, and it reminded me that I could post some of her pictures now that everyone had seen the dress. It’s a lot of fun taking bridal portraits at Pawleys Plantation. I’ve shot so many weddings there, I know the best spots depending on the time of the …

Kiss backlit by the sunset - Caledonia Golf & Fish Club

Windy wedding day at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island

I’ve often been to Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island for engagement and family pictures. It’s a beautiful location with lots of centuries live oak trees covered in moss near the Waccamaw River. This day was my first time photographing an actual wedding at this venue, so I was excited about it. For some reason, this particular Saturday, April 9th, was one of the coldest and windiest days in Myrtle Beach for months. With the wedding and reception both outside, I was a little worried about how things would turn out. When I first arrived, I went up …

Kiss with the sparkler fountains - 21 Main Events at North Beach

Intimate wedding at 21 Main Events with a reception in the courtyard

2022 has already been a busy year with several beautiful weddings. In fact, this was my first of two weddings in a row at 21 Main Events at North Beach. Since this was a smaller, more intimate event, they had the courtyard set up for the reception instead of the main ballroom. I arrived a little before the bride, so I began with detail shots of the table decorations, wedding decor, and the bride’s dress that I found was already there. The groom’s daughter was the only bridesmaid at the wedding. I got many cute shots of them getting ready …

Three Surprise Proposals in Myrtle Beach

So many surprise marriage proposals in November in Myrtle Beach

It seems like there is something special about this November in Myrtle Beach. I’ve had so many couples doing engagement portraits and surprise proposals recently. After coming out of Covid, everyone is now making their big plans for the future. I’ve never had a year so booked up with weddings as I have with 2022. I decided to make a blog post with three recent surprise proposal photo shoots that highlight three great locations. Of course, if you want to see even more recent portrait and engagement sessions, make sure to follow me on Instagram. Surprise proposal during the Night …

Bride and groom looking at each other framed by a old oak in the background - Pawleys Plantation

Beautiful sunset on the golf course at Pawleys Plantation

I always love Fall weddings at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club. It’s so lovely this time of year without the heat and humidity. Matthew and Taylor were a fun and relaxed wedding couple with a small bridal party of the groom’s brothers and the bride’s sister. They had my photo booth at this wedding, so I arrived about an hour early to help my wife set everything up. They had a custom backdrop with a wood lattice and some beautiful foliage. I ended up hanging my gold backdrop behind the lattice; this hid the wall in the background and …

After dark pictures under the lights in the courtyard - 21 Main Events at North Beach

Wedding at 21 Main Events with a flower cannon and local celebrity visit

I’ve been shooting a lot of weddings lately at 21 Main Events at North Beach. It’s becoming one of my favorite venues. I really like the combination of the private courtyard for the ceremony, then the gazebo and beach for pictures at sunset. Plus they have have really great food. My wife Lizeth came along as a second photographer on this wedding. I recommend a second shooter for weddings at 21 Main because she can take pictures from up on the balcony during the ceremony. When we arrived Alexandra, the bride, wasn’t at the venue yet. However her dress, flowers …

Groomsmen and bridesmaids cheering for bride and groom while they kiss - Kaminski House Museum

Wedding on the lawn at the Kaminski House Museum in Georgetown, SC

This was my first time photographing a wedding at the historic Kaminski House Museum in Georgetown. This is located at the end of the Harborwalk on the Sampit River in Georgetown. This house was built back in the mid 1700’s by a wealthy SC merchant. Sometimes I forget what a long history Georgetown has. After many renovations and changes, this is a very beautiful area for a wedding ceremony. There are huge oaks and lots of foliage on the bank of the river that make a beautiful background for the ceremony and pictures after. Thankfully, Georgetown isn’t like it used …

Kiss by the lake - Wild Wing Plantation

Wedding and reception at Wild Wing Plantation in Conway, SC

I especially like to make a blog post when I photograph a wedding at a new venue or location. This was my first time going to the Wild Wing Plantation Clubhouse for a wedding on the golf course. This wedding actually took place back in mid July. I’ve been so busy over the summer, I’m just now getting back to posting some pictures on my blog. Many more weddings will be coming soon. Wild Wing Plantation has an elegant clubhouse with a large central stairway. This leads to a big upstairs room for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready …

Bride and groom with their three leg doggie ring bearer - 21 Main Events at North Beach

Wedding at 21 Main Events with a cute dog ring-bearer and unusual sunset

21 Main Events at North Beach is becoming one of my frequented wedding venues for photography. It’s a great combination of a sheltered courtyard area that keeps the guests out of the sun and wind. As well as a beautiful nearby gazebo and beach area. My wife Lizeth was assisting me as a second photographer at this wedding. She went up with the groomsmen to their suite above the main restaurant and got some great shots of them out on the balcony. I usually like to stay with the bride myself and take the pictures of all her details. Such …

Bride walking down the downtown street with bridesmaids - Charleston, SC

Wedding in downtown Charleston with a reception at the Daniel Island Club

Since it’s my slow time of the year, I’ve been doing some updates to my website. Especially for some of my past weddings in the Charleston area. This was a beautiful wedding from back in 2013 that needed an updated blog post. I added in some ceremony pictures that were missing and did some extra adjustments as well. I was looking at the photo metadata to see what equipment I used back then, these were all taken with a Nikon D3 and Nikon D800. I’m still using the same Nikon 85mm f1.4 lens I used back then. So the main …
