Spring engagement season in Myrtle Beach

March is always busy time in Myrtle Beach for engagement pictures with couples getting married later in the year. I just wanted to post some quick pictures from two recent engagement session. To see more of my recent sessions follow me on Facebook and Instagram. Pamela and Mike – Engagement pictures at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club Pamela and Mike wanted a garden look to their engagement pictures with a lot of oak trees and moss. Their first thought was Brookgreen Gardens, however I explained the extra cost and suggested the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club as an alternative. Caledonia …

Happy couple smiling at each other on the golf course - Dunes Golf and Beach Club - Myrtle Beach

Beautiful winter wedding for an older couple at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club

I had the privilege of photographing a recent wedding at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach for one of it’s previous presidents. This couple was so extremely friendly, nice and relaxed about everything it made my job very easy. When I first arrived at the clubhouse, the bride’s children and grandchildren hadn’t yet arrived. We just chatted for a while and I went around and got detail pictures of the ballroom decorations. The beautiful flowers on the tables were by South Gate Design, and they also had the Tim Clark Band there for music. They are a …

Sunset on the Waccamaw River - Wachesaw Plantation

Wedding ceremony at a chapel with the reception at Kimbels in Wachesaw Plantation

This was my second wedding this year at the beautiful Wachesaw Plantation in Murrells Inlet, SC. Some of my favorite wedding pictures in my galleries have been from Wachesaw Plantation. Symmes, the bride, began her preparations at Stox & Co salon in Litchfield. I met them there to get some pictures of the hair and makeup prep and just some fun pictures of the bridesmaids hanging out before getting dressed. At the salon, they actually have a large private yoga studio area where the bridesmaids were able to get dressed. I walked around and took some nice pictures of the …

Looking at each other under the moss Caledonia Golf and Fish Club

Engagement pictures at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island

I had a fun winter engagement session at Pawleys Island’s Caledonia Golf & Fish Club this past weekend. This is a beautiful former site of a southern rice plantation located along the Waccamaw River. The best feature here is the entrance roadway. It’s surrounded by centuries old live oak trees with their moss covered branches overhanging the roadway. I’ve noticed for engagement pictures in Myrtle Beach. Couples are usually looking for either beach pictures or for an area with a lot of large trees where the sunlight can filter through the moss. Caledonia Golf & Fish Club certainly fulfills that …

First ever wedding on the front lawn Pawleys Plantation

First wedding ever on the front lawn of Pawleys Plantation

I photographed a beautiful wedding ceremony on the front lawn of Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club in Pawleys Island, SC. This was the first time Pawleys Plantation held a wedding in front of the clubhouse. Typically the weddings are held on the back lawn overlooking the golf course. The bride needed the wedding in the front to ride a horse-drawn carriage with her father right up to the ceremony location. I always love working with Heritage Carriages, I’ve done many weddings with them, and it always turns out beautiful. The front lawn turned out to be an excellent spot …

I love that bokeh from the sunset through the trees - Mansfield Plantation, Georgetown

Sunset engagement pictures at Mansfield Plantation, Georgetown SC

My recent couple was looking for a plantation type setting for their engagement pictures with a lot of moss and old oak trees. They got a nice quick response from calling Mansfield Plantation in Georgetown. There was a reasonable $160 charge to do engagement pictures on the plantation grounds so they decided to do the session there. I’ve done many engagement sessions in downtown Georgetown, but I’ve never shot portraits at Mansfield Plantation. I’m always excited to try a new location so I was happy to go, even with the long drive from Myrtle Beach. The location is a bit difficult …

Groom dipping bride in front of the sunset - Upper Mill Plantation

Beautiful wedding at Upper Mill Plantation

I had a lot of fun photographing another recent wedding at Upper Mill Plantation in Bucksville, SC. This wedding’s bride was also a bridesmaid in a wedding I photographed a few months back. The bride from that wedding was a bridesmaid in this one as well, you can view her bridal portraits in a post here. Hopefully they weren’t too sick of me after shooting both of them in two weddings and in bridal portraits! There are a lot of pretty spots at Upper Mill Plantation for wedding pictures. We started out doing portraits of the bridesmaids and groomsmen separately …

Man lifting fiance into the air under Live Oaks - Litchfield Plantation

Engagement portraits at Litchfield Plantation in Pawleys Island

It’s been a several years since I did a photography session at Litchfield Plantation in Pawleys Island. My last wedding back in 2011 at Litchfield Plantation was really beautiful with the bride arriving on a horse-drawn carriage. I was told they were no longer booking events and that they were turning the area into a housing development, but I guess that decision was changed. The recently engaged couple featured in this post had family that owned a home inside Litchfield Plantation, so we were able to do the engagement pictures wherever we liked. I notice on their website that anyone can pay …

Sunset by the Waccamaw River - Wachesaw Plantation

Beautiful sunset by the Waccamaw River – Wedding at Wachesaw Plantation

This was another stunning wedding couple that I had the privilege to photograph at the Kimbels Restaurant at Wachesaw Plantation in Murrells Inlet, SC. I’ve had a couple of weddings there this year that turned out fantastic. This bride and groom, instead of having the wedding ceremony on the lawn at Wachesaw Plantation, held it at a historic location in downtown Georgetown. This couple did the traditional wedding receiving line after the ceremony. Many wedding organizers will pull the family away before the guests exit because it can take a long time to greet everyone on their way out. However, …

Couple holding hands walking down the train track rails - Conway River Walk

Conway River Walk engagement pictures with the flooded Waccamaw River

Going into these engagement pictures, we knew that the Conway River Walk was completely flooded and inaccessible because of Hurricane Matthew. It was even a foot and a half higher than last year’s record flooding. This couple wanted to do pictures in Conway, so we had to find other locations besides the River Walk to do the portraits. They suggested doing pictures on Oak Street, I wasn’t really familiar with that area, but I always like trying somewhere new. Oak Street in downtown Conway is actually very pretty. They built the street to go right around some of the old …
