Intimate wedding at Cherry Grove Point in North Myrtle Beach

I always love when I have a chance to post pictures from a wedding at a new location. I’ve actually done family pictures at the Point in Cherry Grove, but I’ve never shot a wedding ceremony there. This is a unique location in North Myrtle Beach where House Creek meets up with the ocean and there are lots of undulating natural dunes. So many areas of Myrtle Beach have the houses and hotels built so close to the ocean that we don’t get to see natural dunes like this. In the background there you can also see Hog Island and …

Wedding at 21 Main Events with a cute dog ring-bearer and unusual sunset

21 Main Events at North Beach is becoming one of my frequented wedding venues for photography. It’s a great combination of a sheltered courtyard area that keeps the guests out of the sun and wind. As well as a beautiful nearby gazebo and beach area. My wife Lizeth was assisting me as a second photographer at this wedding. She went up with the groomsmen to their suite above the main restaurant and got some great shots of them out on the balcony. I usually like to stay with the bride myself and take the pictures of all her details. Such …

Intimate wedding with family at the Tides in Folly Beach, Charleston

Nicole and Adam found me through WeddingWire, back before we knew anything about Covid-19. They were having a small wedding ceremony on the beach, with just a few family and friends, on September 10th of 2020. This actually worked out perfectly, since most weddings in 2020 ended up being scaled back from the original plans. They were having a separate larger reception later on in NC. They only had me there to take pictures up until dinner time. I was actually glad to not have to stay late since I had another wedding in Charleston the very next day. This …

Small beachfront wedding at the Avista Resort in North Myrtle Beach

During my slow photography season I like to revisit some previous weddings I haven’t posted pictures from. I choose to highlight this wedding from April 6th, 2019 because it was my first time at the Avista Resort in North Myrtle Beach. This was small, simple destination wedding with just the bride, groom, their daughter and close family and friends. I arrived before the ceremony at the bride’s room on the top floor of the Avista Resort for getting ready pictures with the bridal party. I was also working with Balzotti Creative, a great videographer I work with frequently. You can …

December wedding at the Hilton Doubletree Resort in Myrtle Beach

I had a great end to my photography season with two end of the year weddings on the 27th and 28th of December. It’s now time to catch up on any photo editing and wedding albums etc. I still have to finish. I will also be at the Wedding Showcase on Jan 25th at the Myrtle Beach convention center if anyone would like to meet me there. The next day we are traveling to my wife’s home country of Colombia for a couple of weeks. It’s a beautiful country, so hopefully I’ll get some great pictures and drone footage to …

Beautiful summer wedding at the Grande Dunes Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach with my photo booth service

I have been keeping busy lately with weddings at the Grande Dunes Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach. This wedding was the first of four weddings there just in the month of May! It’s always great working with the staff like Samantha Huff at the Ocean Club, I’ve gotten to know them very well and they always do a great job. This wedding was also organized by Stunning and Brilliant Events and the DJ was Scott and Company. I also got some nice shots of Wing from Salon 18 and Spa doing the bride’s hair before the ceremony. I’ve worked with …

Fun beach wedding with a large bridal party – Ocean Club at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach

I always have a lot of fun photographing weddings at the Ocean Club at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach. My latest beach wedding for Sara and John was no exception. Sara had me arrive a little earlier then usual to start taking pictures, about 2 1/2 hours before the ceremony. This turned out to be a good idea with 11 groomsmen and 9 bridesmaids in the party! I always warn my couples if you have a really big bridal party, plan on everything running an hour later than you think. Samantha, the wedding coordinator at the Ocean Club, had the …

Fun wedding on the lawn at the Hilton in Myrtle Beach

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve photographed a wedding at the Hilton in Myrtle Beach. Using the cool new search box on my website menu to the left, I put in Hilton and realized I hadn’t made a blog post for that location since 2010. By the way, my entire site is now running on WordPress so you can search for anything throughout my site. It’s really nice if you want to see pictures from a particular location, try out some searches and see what you find. You might have noticed that my website has gone through some …

Small destination wedding at North Beach Plantation

This is my first time photographing a wedding at North Beach Plantation in North Myrtle Beach. Build in 2009, this is one of the newest large hotels in this area and I think it’s one of the nicest looking. North Beach Plantation has two large towers that are joined together by a couple of archways, I made sure to get some nice wide angle shots with both towers in the background. This couple was having a small destination wedding with just their family and close friends, they said they are having the big reception later on when they return back …

Small beach house wedding down in Garden City, SC

I really think think the beach house wedding is a great idea if you are planning for a smaller, more intimate ceremony and if it is the time of the year when the weather is nice. I’ve had a lot of previous clients that will rent a large beach house, have the wedding down on the beach, and then the reception in the backyard of the house. I’m sure this has to be a lot easier on a budget than many of the popular hotel and club locations.  Sometimes I can even get better pictures of a couple at a smaller, less involved event because time is usually more flexible and everyone is more relaxed.

The couple I’m featuring in this post had a small ceremony down in the Garden City area. When you get far enough south in Garden City there are some great wedding spots. I really enjoyed photographing the couple on the small rock jetty that was within walking distance from the beach house. We were able to do some fun and probably a little bit dangerous pictures up on the rocks.  I wish we had done it a bit closer to sunset to cut down on some of the shadows, but it still turned out nice.  After doing some beach pictures we hopped on a golf cart and found an empty house on the inlet side where we could do a few more sunset pictures.

A picture I really liked from the collection below is a simple one of the bride standing in window light. There is nothing technically difficult about this shot, it’s just the camera exposed for the light coming in the window.  The light coming in is so much brighter than the room that it gives some nice drama to the picture.  The couple also, I believe due to my suggestion, hung up a lot of small decorative lights that really made a nice background for some of the dancing shots at the end of this gallery. I hope you enjoy some of the pictures below, please let me know in the comment area below the pictures if you do!
