Springtime country wedding at Wildberry Farm with an outdoor ceremony – Marion, SC

This was my second time photographing a country wedding at Wildberry Farm near Marion, SC. Since this wedding was in late spring, the flowers in the garden were blooming and the grass and trees were all green. These were things I missed out on at my earlier winter wedding there.  Instead of having the ceremony …

Sunset engagement pictures at the historic waterfront in Georgetown, SC

This was the first time I’ve done any engagement portraits at the historic waterfront area of Georgetown. I think it’s just the distance and the fact that most people are more interested in the beach that I haven’t made it over that way. I personally do so much at the beach I always like when I get to do something different.

The historic Georgetown waterfront area is going to give you a similar look to doing engagement pictures at the Conway River Walk. You still have a lot of trees, historic looking shops, and a boardwalk on the water. The main thing you don’t have at Georgetown that you have in Conway is the train tracks that can make for some really cool pictures.  Otherwise there are a lot of things I like better in Georgetown. At least for this time of the year there was a really nice sunset going down over the water, all the boats at the marina make for a nice background, and the shops are better for walking around and doing pictures.  Be sure to let me know if you enjoy the pictures below, and if a couple wants to try out Historic Georgetown for their engagement pictures let me know.

First wedding at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, SC

This was the first time I’ve been to the Magnolia Plantation area in Charleston for a wedding. I’ve done some engagement pictures here, but never a full wedding. The first time to a new site is always exciting, I do a lot of looking around trying to find some spots with good lighting and background details. We also had a golf cart driver that took us around to some popular spots.

The reception was in the conservatory which is a really cool spot. It’s an indoor garden area with a small section with tables for the guests. The couple was pretty flexible so we even spent a few minutes experimenting with a few nighttime, off camera lighting shots in the garden area.  I was putting a flash with umbrella in the background to give some highlights to the foliage behind them. Experimenting is always fun if there is a little extra time.  I’m looking forward to my wedding in a couple of weeks at this location and I hope I get some in the future as well.  As always please comment below if you enjoy these pictures.

Bridal portraits at Pawleys Plantation and the Conway River Walk

I don’t typically do an many bridal portraits as other types of photography.  A lot of people prefer to do engagement pictures with me and just do some bridal style pictures at the wedding.  But it’s always a lot of fun when I get to. This is one of the best kinds of photography you can do, a bride all dressed up for a wedding, without the stress and limited time of the wedding itself.  It’s pretty hard to go wrong as long as you have a pretty location to work with.

I thought I would post just a few pictures from recent bridal portraits at Pawleys Plantation area and from the Conway River Walk. Pawleys Plantation is a private area so you would probably have to be doing a wedding there to get to do this, but the Conway River Walk is freely open to everyone.  It’s one of my favorite spots.

Wedding ceremony at the Conway River Walk

I’m going to try something a little different with my blog posts.  Instead of just posting the same pictures I post in my galleries and Facebook, I’m going to post a lot more here, although many of them won’t have any Photoshop work or touchups like pictures in my main gallery.

I had a really busy couple of weeks with 5 weddings, the beginning of May seems to be everyone’s favorite time to get married.  I wanted to highlight this wedding at the Conway River Walk because it’s a location I haven’t done a wedding before.  I’ve been to this area a number of times for various things, but never for a full wedding ceremony.  It really is a beautiful location if you want to get away from the beach.  I would have to say I wouldn’t recommend a reception at the peanut warehouse unless it’s a really cool time of the year.  They really need to get some air circulation and some large fans through the building and it would be fine.  But I’m always hot so you can’t really take my opinion on it too much.  This couple was a lot of fun and we got some really good shots.  I hope you enjoy some of the pictures below.

First look – Brookgreen Gardens

I just wanted to put up a quick post about a recent wedding in Brookgreen Gardens, I will likely be putting up a post with more general pictures from this wedding later on.  The bride wanted to do first look pictures, where instead of seeing the groom at the ceremony like normal, they did something special beforehand.  I hadn’t really done this before exactly, but I thought what would look good was the bride in focus as she walked towards the groom out of focus in the background.  Actually I should have done this with a different lens, and it would have been even better, but I really liked the results.  I will post some shots below, these are special because I’m not going to put them all up in my gallery, without context it would look like a bunch of pictures of the same thing.
