Bride posing with her cheek beside the horse - Upper Mill Plantation

Bridal portraits at Upper Mill Plantation in Bucksville

I had a lot of fun shooting bridal portraits at Upper Mill Plantation this past spring. This bride and groom just got married at the plantation on Saturday, so I’m now able to post some of these pictures. Upper Mill Plantation has a lot of pretty photography spots. We started out walking to the pond near the entrance to the area. This marsh area has lots of moss covered oak trees growing from water. The combination of the sunset reflecting off the water and the light filtering through the trees is a really beautiful backdrop for a bridal portrait. Next …

Man lifting fiance into the air under Live Oaks - Litchfield Plantation

Engagement portraits at Litchfield Plantation in Pawleys Island

It’s been a several years since I did a photography session at Litchfield Plantation in Pawleys Island. My last wedding back in 2011 at Litchfield Plantation was really beautiful with the bride arriving on a horse-drawn carriage. I was told they were no longer booking events and that they were turning the area into a housing development, but I guess that decision was changed. The recently engaged couple featured in this post had family that owned a home inside Litchfield Plantation, so we were able to do the engagement pictures wherever we liked. I notice on their website that anyone can pay …

Sunset by the Waccamaw River - Wachesaw Plantation

Beautiful sunset by the Waccamaw River – Wedding at Wachesaw Plantation

This was another great wedding couple that I had the privilege to photograph at the Wachesaw Plantation Club in Murrells Inlet, SC. I’ve had a couple of weddings there this year that turned out fantastic. This bride and groom, instead of having the wedding ceremony on the lawn at Wachesaw Plantation, held it at a historic location in downtown Georgetown. This couple did the traditional wedding receiving line after the ceremony. Many wedding organizers will pull the family away before the guests exit because it can take a long time to greet everyone on their way out. However, if there …

Beautiful sunset portrait of bride and groom on the Wacammaw River

Beautiful afternoon wedding at Wachesaw Plantation with a horse drawn carriage

I always love going to Wachesaw Plantation for a wedding, the oak trees on the Waccamaw River make a great backdrop for pictures, especially at sunset. It’s been a long time since I’ve photographed a wedding with a horse and carriage, it always makes for some really great pictures. I guess riding in on a carriage is the type of thing you really have to be at a plantation or garden style location like Wachesaw for it to work. I got the business card of the carriage company so I’ll add it to my favorite vendors page, maybe it will give some brides …

Heritage Plantation wedding photography at the Clubhouse and the new Nikon D810

A few weeks ago I photographed another beautiful wedding at the Heritage Plantation clubhouse in Pawleys Island, SC.  It’s been a few years since I’ve been there, it’s a great location so hopefully I can get on their vendor list and get some more weddings at the club. A couple of fun things about this wedding, they had the Clemson Tiger mascot come in as a surprise to the groom at the reception.  Whoever was wearing the outfit was a lot of fun and livened up the evening.  They also had a live band which did a great job.  The groom …

First dance at Wachesaw Plantation

Beautiful Afternoon wedding at Wachesaw Plantation

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Wachesaw Plantation for a wedding. It’s a really pretty wedding site on the Waccamaw River, it’s especially nice at sunset the way the light filters through the many trees. The bride and groom at this wedding wanted to do a first look so they could get most of the wedding pictures done before the ceremony. That is actually a nice way to do things because the couple can start having fun as soon as the ceremony is over. This also means though that most of the pictures would be done earlier in the day …
