Looking into each others eyes - Caledonia Golf and Fish Club

Spring engagement pictures Caledonia Golf & Fish Club

Caledonia Golf & Fish Club is one of my favorite locations for weddings, senior portraits, maternity portraits, and engagement pictures in the Myrtle Beach area. I even occasionally take family pictures there if they prefer not to be on the beach. All year they have the beautiful centuries-old moss-covered oaks along the Waccamaw River that make a fantastic background for pictures. With the warm weather the past few weeks, there was an extra blast of color with all the Spring flowers in bloom. This couple was so happy and had a lot of fun with the pictures. When doing engagement …

Kiss with the sunset on the marsh - Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club

Pawleys Plantation wedding with beautiful flowers, a trolly, and a great sunset on the golf course

I’ve been so busy with weddings at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club this May. This beautiful Friday afternoon was my second of five weddings at this location in the past month. We had some near-record heat for May, but it cooled down later in the day, and everyone still had a great time. Jessie from Willow Events had flowers, invitations, and other jewelry collected for detail shots when I arrived. I always recommend that brides make a collection of their details before the wedding, and I can take those pictures quickly. Since Willow Events is also a florist, there …

Showing off the cowboy boots - Brookgreen Gardens

Spring wedding at the Brookgreen Gardens Holliday Cottage and Dance Floor Lighting

It’s been a while since I photographed a wedding in Brookgreen Gardens. Weddings at the Brookgreen Gardens Holliday Cottage are always beautiful, so it is nice to be back. It’s always great to work with DJ Wayne Cribb and Gigi Noelle Events. I arrived a little early at the location to get some detail shots around the cottage and ceremony area. The bride and groom had put special attention into decorating the Live Oak Allee gates that lead to the “Youth Taming the Wild” statue. The gates were covered in beautiful flowers, which made a fantastic background for the ceremony …

Looking at each other under the moss Caledonia Golf and Fish Club

Engagement pictures at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island

I had a fun winter engagement session at Pawleys Island’s Caledonia Golf & Fish Club this past weekend. This is a beautiful former site of a southern rice plantation located along the Waccamaw River. The best feature here is the entrance roadway. It’s surrounded by centuries old live oak trees with their moss covered branches overhanging the roadway. I’ve noticed for engagement pictures in Myrtle Beach. Couples are usually looking for either beach pictures or for an area with a lot of large trees where the sunlight can filter through the moss. Caledonia Golf & Fish Club certainly fulfills that …

Kiss in the garden flowers - Wildberry Farm

Summertime wedding at Wildberry Farm

Now that the busy season is over I’m going to post pictures from some of my weddings from earlier in the year. I always love going to Wildberry Farm in Marion, SC for weddings. Especially when the garden flowers are in bloom. I remember this wedding especially because it was one of the hottest days of the summer, and there wasn’t any breeze at all! The wedding was outdoors by the lake, which is a beautiful location, however everyone was really suffering from the heat. I remember the bride’s mother telling me that sadly her father had just recently passed …

Bride posing with her cheek beside the horse - Upper Mill Plantation

Bridal portraits at Upper Mill Plantation in Bucksville

I had a lot of fun shooting bridal portraits at Upper Mill Plantation this past spring. This bride and groom just got married at the plantation on Saturday, so I’m now able to post some of these pictures. Upper Mill Plantation has a lot of pretty photography spots. We started out walking to the pond near the entrance to the area. This marsh area has lots of moss covered oak trees growing from water. The combination of the sunset reflecting off the water and the light filtering through the trees is a really beautiful backdrop for a bridal portrait. Next …

Kiss by the flowers in the Palmetto Garden - Brookgreen Gardens

Surprise marriage proposal in Brookgreen Gardens

I had a lot of fun photographing a recent surprise marriage proposal in Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet. April is a great time of the year for taking pictures in Brookgreen. The springtime flowers are blooming and they also have extended hours until 8pm. Normally the gardens close at 5pm so it would be impossible to get the beautiful light from the sunset filtering through the trees. This man did a great job with keeping the proposal to his girlfriend a surprise. He met his uncle in the bathroom at the entrance to the gardens to get the ring from …

Groom dipping back bride in front of barn - Wildberry Farm

Springtime country wedding at Wildberry Farm with an outdoor ceremony – Marion, SC

This was my second time photographing a country wedding at Wildberry Farm near Marion, SC. Since this wedding was in late spring, the flowers in the garden were blooming and the grass and trees were all green. These were things I missed out on at my earlier winter wedding there.  Instead of having the ceremony inside the chapel, they set up the chairs and arbor on the lawn beside the lake. This was a really pretty spot for the ceremony with a lot of nice shade from the trees. I didn’t even know there was a lake behind the chapel the …

Bridal portraits at Pawleys Plantation and the Conway River Walk

I don’t typically do as many bridal portraits as other types of photography.  Many people prefer to do engagement pictures with me and do some bridal style pictures at the wedding.  But it’s always a lot of fun when I get to. This is one of the best kinds of photography you can do, a bride all dressed up for a wedding, without the stress and limited time of the wedding itself.  It’s pretty hard to go wrong as long as you have a pretty location to work with. I thought I would post just a few pictures from recent …

Beautiful spot for a wedding - Holiday cottage walkway at Brookgreen Gardens

Another beautiful wedding at Brookgreen Gardens

I had another wedding at the Holliday Cottage area in Brookgreen Gardens.  This ceremony was at the iron gates at the end of the Live Oak Allee. I always love going there. You just can’t beat the background and lighting that you get with lots of trees and a garden.  The weather had been so nice that several flowers were in bloom. This is always great in the background of a picture.  This wedding was for the bride that I recently did the fun bridal portraits for, you can read about that a couple of blog posts down from here.  …
