Winter Sunset Wedding at Pine Lakes Country Club in Myrtle Beach

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything new on my blog. I’m finally at the time of the year when things are slowing down, so I’m going to try to get caught up on some of my beautiful weddings from the past summer and fall. I’m also going to try to focus on making shorter posts that feature lots of pictures. This blog feature was from a beautiful winter wedding held at almost sunset on Nov 22nd at Pine Lakes Country Club in Myrtle Beach.

When I looked over the wedding schedule, I realized the ceremony was almost at sunset, so we would need to get most of the pictures done before it. During the winter months, when sunset is so early, a first look is necessary unless a bride and groom want an early-afternoon ceremony and reception. After a few quick getting-ready photos, I took the couple out to the little garden behind the clubhouse for a first look. Next, we took all the pictures with the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and the family.

I loved the simple wedding arch covered in flowers, set against the garden as a backdrop for the bride and groom’s portraits. We also went out in front of the clubhouse for pictures by the fountain. It wasn’t yet the best time for the light, but I knew we would be pressed for time after the ceremony, and I wanted to catch a few sunset shots out on the golf course.

It is beautiful to hold a ceremony right before sunset. I especially liked some of the shots of sunlight filtering through the tree branches during the groom’s vows. Of course, I would have loved to have this time with the light filtering through the trees for pictures of the bride and groom, but with the ceremony running late, the sun had already dipped below the horizon by the end. I quickly pulled the bride and groom aside, and there was still just enough light in the sky to capture beautiful photos after sunset. With a little bit of flash to light the subjects and the sensitivity of modern cameras, even after dusk, pictures can turn out beautiful.

The reception with Eyecon Entertainment was a lot of fun. They are one of my favorite DJs to work with. Everyone there had a blast dancing, and we finished the evening with an exit using the cold sparkler cannons. I’ve had several weddings at Pine Lakes Country Club this year.
