This was my first time photographing a wedding at La Belle Amie Vineyard in Little River, SC. The ceremony was held on the beautiful lawn looking out towards the lake and rows of grapevines. The clouds were looking dark and ominous before the ceremony, but it still wasn’t raining and the weather forecast looked like the rain might pass us by. The couple decided to just go ahead and go for the outdoor ceremony. Almost as soon as the bride’s father walked her down the aisle it started raining, thankfully just a shower and not a downpour like we got later in the afternoon. I actually got some really cute pictures of the couple doing their vows and first kiss in the rain. One of my favorites below is the two of them running from the rain after the ceremony.
As soon as the rain stopped I did pictures with the family, the bridal party and then the couple by themselves. I got a lot of nice shots with just the two of them but I thought the sun was going to come out before sunset. I had some spots planned that would have been great with the sunlight filtering through the trees. Thankfully we did plenty of pictures right after the ceremony. Not only did it stay cloudy, but a downpour started shortly after. Instead of letting this ruin the reception and everyone staying crowded under the tent, the bride and bridesmaids went out and starting dancing in the rain. Soon almost the entire group was out in the mud and rain having a great time. It was really fun taking hundreds of shots of the group dancing in the rain as I’ve never seen that happen at a wedding before!
