My favorite Myrtle Beach family photography from 2022

I can’t believe another year is already over. I’m heading into my 15th year of full-time photography in the Myrtle Beach area. Time sure does fly by. I always post pictures from my favorite family photo sessions on Instagram and Facebook throughout the year. When things slow down, it’s nice to look back and add some favorite photos to my blog. 2022 was a busy year. Looking back, I shot about 87,000 pictures over the year at almost 150 weddings, engagements, and family portrait sessions. I’m very thankful to all the happy clients that chose to use me to capture their special memories in …

Surprise proposal during family and maternity portraits

This was such a fun recent family photography session that I wanted to make a quick blog post about it. I’ve done many surprise marriage proposal over the years in Myrtle Beach. However, I’ve never done one, that combined maternity portraits and family pictures at the same time! I was actually contacted by the expectant mother to setup just a regular family photography session. About a week before the session, I was called by the father. He had an idea for a surprise proposal at the same time. All of his kids were going to be in on it and …

A great start to 2021 with maternity portraits at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club

Thinking back on 13 years of photography in Myrtle Beach It’s hard to believe it’s 2021 already. I’m entering into my 13th year as a full time photographer in the Myrtle Beach area. It doesn’t seem like that long ago, I was taking my first family beach pictures with a Nikon D80 and 50mm f1.8 lens. I still had a lot to learn at that time, but I always had a good eye for light and I was good with people so I got a lot of great shots. Thinking back to the most important knowledge I had before I …

Maternity portrait - husband kissing wife on the belly - Huntington Beach State Park

Sunset maternity portraits south of the Myrtle Beach area

Now that things are slowing down, I have time to go back and highlight some of my favorite photography sessions from 2020. This maternity portrait session was in September at the Huntington Beach State Park. This state park is 25 minutes south of the Myrtle Beach city limits. I recommend making the trip because it’s a stunning location. I had a lot of fun with this couple. They were originally from my wife’s home country of Colombia. We got some very beautiful maternity portraits before the sunset that evening. We started doing traditional portraits of the expectant mother touching and …

Maternity portraits at the Huntington Beach State Park and Atalaya Castle

I had a lot of fun taking maternity portraits for an expecting mother and father last week at the Atalaya Castle and beach in Huntington Beach State Park. I’m still happy that I made this park in Murrells Inlet my regular location for family pictures vs the park in Myrtle Beach. As the sunset moves to later in the day, the traffic is not that bad driving down to the Murrells Inlet area. This mother was due to have her child in about four weeks, but even though it was a little tricky for her, she did a lot of …
