The cutest toddlers ever laying by the ocean - North Myrtle Beach

My Favorite Family Pictures in Myrtle Beach from Summer 2023

One or twice a year, I like to make a blog post looking back at some of my favorite family, maternity, and senior portrait pictures from the past few months. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you can see these pictures and many more right after I finish working on them. The Spring and Summer of 2023 has been one of my busiest ever. It seems like Myrtle Beach keeps increasing in popularity. My usual location for family pictures is the Huntington Beach State Park. Even in the busy summer, it’s less crowded than other areas on the …

Romantic portraits of bride and groom through the trees - Pine Lakes Country Club

Spring Wedding at Pine Lakes Country Club in Myrtle Beach

It was great to be back at Pine Lakes Country Club for the wedding of Emily and Fin. We had lovely Spring weather for their April 29th date, except for some thunderstorms rolling in at the end of the day. My last wedding at Pine Lake Country Club was in the fall of 2020. It was a beautiful wedding facing the back of the clubhouse, but its size had to be drastically cut back because of Covid. It’s nice to be there when everything is back to normal. When I arrived, I checked in with Emily and got her dress, …

Mom and dad with their 4 girls and dog on the beach - Ocean Isle Beach

My favorite Myrtle Beach family photography from 2022

I can’t believe another year is already over. I’m heading into my 15th year of full-time photography in the Myrtle Beach area. Time sure does fly by. I always post pictures from my favorite family photo sessions on Instagram and Facebook throughout the year. When things slow down, it’s nice to look back and add some favorite photos to my blog. 2022 was a busy year. Looking back, I shot about 87,000 pictures over the year at almost 150 weddings, engagements, and family portrait sessions. I’m very thankful to all the happy clients that chose to use me to capture their special memories in …

Dip back for a kiss - The Cooper House

Wedding under the live oak at The Cooper House in Myrtle Beach

This was my first wedding at The Cooper House Event Venue. This is located right near an old swing bridge on the Intracoastal Waterway in a town called Socastee, which is a little inland from Myrtle Beach. I live very close to this area, and I always drive by this location. I’ve seen signs for The Cooper House, but I had no idea there was such a lovely wedding venue at the site. The Cooper House is a rustic, southern farm-style venue with a historic house for the bride and groom to get ready and an open barn area for …

Big smiles under the mossy oaks - Safe Harbor Reserve Harbor Yacht Club

Wedding under the moss covered oaks at the Reserve Harbor Marina Clubhouse

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve photographed a wedding at what used to be called the Reserve Harbor Yacht Club in Pawleys Island. It seems like they have changed their name. It’s now the Safe Harbor Reserve Harbor Marina Clubhouse. This location highlights the beauty of the Pawleys Island area, with the ancient oak trees covered in moss and a boardwalk through the forest that goes out onto the Waccamaw River. I love these Pawleys Island scenic spots where you can get that warm glow of the sunset filtering through the mossy trees in the background. Hurricane Ian …

Family of three after the wedding - Folly Beach - Charleston

Intimate wedding with family at the Tides in Folly Beach, Charleston

Nicole and Adam found me through WeddingWire, back before we knew anything about Covid-19. They were having a small wedding ceremony on the beach, with just a few family and friends, on September 10th of 2020. This actually worked out perfectly, since most weddings in 2020 ended up being scaled back from the original plans. They were having a separate larger reception later on in NC. They only had me there to take pictures up until dinner time. I was actually glad to not have to stay late since I had another wedding in Charleston the very next day. This …

Family on the foliage covered walkway to the beach - Huntington Beach State Park

Family portraits at Huntington Beach State Park for my previous wedding clients

I’ve had a really busy summer this year with family beach photography. It’s good to be busy, but I won’t mind when things slow down a little and the kids start returning to school. I don’t get to post family pictures to my blog very often. However, if you follow me on Instagram, I’ve been trying to post 10 quick pictures from many of my recent family sessions. So if you like to keep up with my work, please follow me there! I wanted to post this recent session because they were also my previous wedding clients. In fact, you …

Happy family of 6 laying in the sand together - Huntington Beach State Park

Family portraits at the Huntington Beach State Park with a happy family of 6

I had a lot of fun taking portraits of this family of 6 at the Atalaya Castle area and beach in the Huntington Beach State Park. Even though it was hot and a little windy, the family was very happy to be taking pictures and had great smiles from the beginning. We have had some very hot weather in Myrtle Beach the last couple of weeks, but near sunset time and by the ocean the heat isn’t too bad. I’m still really happy with my decision to switch away from the Myrtle Beach State Park to the Huntington Beach State …

Brothers laying in the sand - Huntington Beach State Park

Mother with her two sons | Family pictures at Huntington Beach State Park

This year I’m again encouraging my clients for family pictures to make the trip to the Huntington Beach State Park if possible. Because of a recent hurricane, the dunes are very damaged at the Myrtle Beach State Park and they have roped them off to protect them. Also, in the summer, the Myrtle Beach park is very crowded. Because of the crowds, sometimes the park rangers are unfriendly with us photographers. The Huntington Beach State Park doesn’t have a pier but it has the Atalaya Castle and a beautiful beach with nice dunes. If you are looking to take some …

Kiss on a path through the forest - Reserve Harbor Yacht Club

Wedding at the Pawleys Island Chapel with a reception at the Reserve Harbor Yacht Club

This bride and groom, Mary and Shane, had a beautiful wedding ceremony at the Pawleys Island Chapel with a reception at the Reserve Harbor Yacht Club. They also had their two daughters featured as flower girls in the wedding. I had my assistant head over to take pictures with the groomsmen, and I went to the home where the bride was getting ready on the inlet in Pawleys Island. This home was in a beautiful location with a dock on the water. Because I didn’t have to take pictures with the groomsmen, it gave me an extra few minutes to …
