Featured surprise proposals and engagement photography from 2024 in Myrtle Beach

I just realized I never made my usual yearly post, looking back on some of my favorite surprise marriage proposals, engagement sessions, couples’ portraits, and anniversary pictures from 2024. If you would like to check out last year’s post, please click here. It was another great year with many happy couples.

Engagement pictures at the Point in Cherry Grove

I always love the beach in the winter in the Cherry Grove Point area. It’s a special time of year, with the sun setting over the ocean in Myrtle Beach. This gives me a unique opportunity to capture some beautiful silhouette pictures with the golden sunlight reflecting in the edge of the water and setting behind the pier. There are also beautiful tall grasses and dunes in this unique location. I only recommend this spot for the off-season because there is limited parking and it can get crowded during the summer.

Surprise proposals with a picnic on the beach

Another of my favorite sessions was a surprise proposal with the father and mother of a young girl. The daughter knew that dad was going to propose on the beach, and you can see how happy and excited she was when mom got the ring. They had a picnic on the beach set up by MB Picnic Co. I’ve worked with them a few times now, and they always make a beautiful setup with a small table, tent, wooden chairs, flower petals, and lanterns. Even if you don’t have time to set up something with a company, I recently helped with setting up some candles and flowers on the beach. I’m always happy to help out if I can.

Conway River Walk Engagement pictures

I also took several engagement sessions last year at the Conway Riverwalk. If you’re looking for something different from the beach, this is a nice alternative. They have a long boardwalk along the Waccamaw River, with some docks extending out into the water. There are also old, abandoned train tracks and some beautiful, mossy trees that make nice spots for romantic portraits. Of course, my usual default location is Huntington Beach State Park, which remains my favorite spot for beach pictures, featuring the Atalaya Castle, plenty of shade trees, and a beautiful beach.

Surprise proposal in the snow in Myrtle Beach!

I had one proposal session this past winter that may not ever happen again. We had snow on the beach! This is something that almost never happens in our climate. If it does snow, the snow melts away quickly. With the unusual weather conditions, the state parks were closed, and with the surprise proposal already planned, we needed to get the pictures done no matter what. So we made a last-minute switch to the pier in Garden City. It’s not my favorite area for pictures, but with the weather, we had the beach to ourselves and got some beautiful shots with the snow-covered sand. Sometimes, bad weather can give some unique opportunities for pictures.

I hope you enjoy this look back at my last year of engagement pictures, proposals, and more from the previous year. If you’d like to plan a photoshoot on the beach for your significant other, please let me know. I would be happy to help.
