Bride and groom under the moss on the Riverwalk - Conway Riverwalk

Emotional wedding at Brookgreen Gardens Holliday Cottage; Groom wore a Scottish Kilt

I always love weddings at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet. It’s located about 30 minutes south of Myrtle Beach, across from the Huntington Beach State Park. My family portrait clients are always asking me about the origins of the Atalaya Castle. I end up talking about the sculptures in Brookgreen Gardens and I’m surprised how many people have never heard of it. It’s a really beautiful area and one of the nicest things to visit when in Myrtle Beach. Hilleri and Tom had their wedding at the Holliday Cottage area in Brookgreen Gardens. I always love the upstairs area in …

HDR picture of beautiful ceremony location on the Wacammaw River - Kimbel's - Wachesaw Plantation

Beautiful riverfront wedding at the Kimbels in Wachesaw Plantation

It’s great to finish out the 2020 season with some amazing weddings. Even though the weddings have been a little smaller this year because of Covid, I’ve had some of my favorites. The Kimbels restaurant in Wachesaw Plantation is one of the most beautiful locations in the Myrtle Beach area. Especially if you are looking for trees and moss instead of the beach. The Kimbels ceremony location, overlooking the Waccamaw River, is a beautiful spot for portraits at sunset. There is also a picturesque oak allee surrounded by large moss covered live oak trees on either side. When I arrived …

Sunset on the Waccamaw River - Wachesaw Plantation

Wedding ceremony at a chapel with the reception at Kimbels in Wachesaw Plantation

This was my second wedding this year at the beautiful Wachesaw Plantation in Murrells Inlet, SC. Some of my favorite wedding pictures in my galleries have been from Wachesaw Plantation. Symmes, the bride, began her preparations at Stox & Co salon in Litchfield. I met them there to get some pictures of the hair and makeup prep and just some fun pictures of the bridesmaids hanging out before getting dressed. At the salon, they actually have a large private yoga studio area where the bridesmaids were able to get dressed. I walked around and took some nice pictures of the …

Maternity portraits of man and woman sitting by the dunes - Huntington Beach State Park

Maternity portraits at the Huntington Beach State Park and Atalaya Castle

I had a lot of fun taking maternity portraits for an expecting mother and father last week at the Atalaya Castle and beach in Huntington Beach State Park. I’m still happy that I made this park in Murrells Inlet my regular location for family pictures vs the park in Myrtle Beach. As the sunset moves to later in the day, the traffic is not that bad driving down to the Murrells Inlet area. This mother was due to have her child in about four weeks, but even though it was a little tricky for her, she did a lot of …

Last wedding of the year at Wachesaw Plantation

It looks like this is going to be my last wedding of 2010. It was at a beautiful spot at the Wachesaw Plantation Club in Murrells Inlet, SC. I can’t believe another year is over already. This past year flew by. Now I get into my couple of really slow months that I look forward to when things are crazy in the summer, like three weddings on one hot weekend in June, but then I pretty quickly wish I was busy again. Well, now I can make sure I’ve got everything caught up from the year, I still have a …
