Photographing a wedding at The Ivy Place in Lancaster, SC

The Ivy Place in Lancaster, SC, is the farthest I’ve traveled to photograph a wedding, a little over 3 hours each way. I was tired on the drive home, but it wasn’t a bad trip. It was biker week in Myrtle Beach, so I’m glad my wedding was out of the area. The Ivy Place is a lovely wedding location near Charlotte, and it reminds me of weddings I’ve done in Charleston and Brookgreen Gardens. It has a pretty garden area surrounding an old historical house and abandoned barns in the fields.

As you can see from the pictures below, this couple decided to do a first look. In a garden area like this, even with the sun overhead, it’s easy to get some nice pictures earlier in the day. A first look is an excellent way to get a lot of the difficult things, like collecting the family together for pictures, done before the rush to get to the reception. It gave us more time for photos than I ended up having after some wedding ceremonies. I especially liked some of the pictures with the classic car. I loved the reflections and the way the light was coming through the trees around where they had it parked. I hope you enjoy the pictures. Please let me know in the comments if you do.
